Culinary Arts
My culinary work sits at the intersection of food, photography, and visual storytelling. Through recipe development, product photography, and graphic design, I explore how flavor, technique, composition, and presentation can come together to create an experience that feels both approachable and inspiring.
At the heart of this practice is my goal to blend modern European techniques with my Latin roots, creating food that is thoughtfully developed, visually expressive, and deeply flavorful. I’m interested not only in how food tastes, but in how it can be communicated through imagery, design, and story.
A curated collection of food photography developed from concept through final edit. Each image explores the relationship between styling, lighting, composition, and color to highlight ingredients and finished dishes with intention. The work blends a playful, editorial approach with thoughtful visual storytelling, capturing not only how food looks, but the mood, texture, and experience it evokes.
Concept
A tartare built around the richness and acidity of avocado, balanced with salty, umami-driven elements and a subtle heat.

Development / Flavor Direction
To develop this tartare, I wanted to play with salty and umami flavors while incorporating a touch of spice to balance the tang and acidity of the avocado-lime base.
Base - Avocado
Salty / Umami - Soy sauce
Richness - Olive oil, Mayo
Acid / Brightness - Lemon juice
Heat / Smokiness - Chipotle pepper flakes
Aromatics - Freshly grated ginger & garlic
Texture - Pomegranate Seeds, Raw Shallots, Fresh Chili Slices
Flavor Test:
The original flavor profile was promising, with the flavors complementing one another without becoming overwhelming. However, some of the initial garnishes felt forced rather than contributing naturally to the overall dish, so I began exploring ways to make the supporting elements feel more intentional.
Texture Test:
The initial trial paired the tartare with pita chips as the primary way to eat it. While the combination worked, the pita felt too heavy and did not provide enough variation in texture. The crunch felt stagnant rather than adding meaningful contrast to the creamy tartare, so I began exploring lighter elements that could provide more of a crunch factor while maintaining a balanced bite.
Heat Test:
Crushed chipotle peppers introduced a smoky depth that could not be achieved with chile alone. I also incorporated crushed chile de árbol for a more pronounced heat, using the lime juice to provide acidity and balance the spice

Modifications:

Textured Base - Buttered Crostini
By swapping the pita chips for a crostini base, the tartare became more approachable as an amuse-bouche or appetizer. The smaller, sturdier format made it easier to enjoy in a single bite, rather than committing to a larger, more meal-like portion.
Texture in Garnishes - Crispy Onions, Sprinkled Chives
With the intentional swap from raw shallots to crispy fried onions, the dish gains greater depth of texture from the first bite without overpowering the onion flavor. Frying the onions softens their intensity, allowing the flavor to remain more subtle while adding a satisfying crispness to the dish.

Introduction
As Ratatouille reminds us, “Anyone can cook”—but true growth in the culinary world takes discipline, curiosity, and a commitment to mastering technique. For a long time, culinary school felt like a distant dream, something I worried I might be too late to pursue. But over the past twelve months, I’ve learned that an idea—an interest—can always be nurtured into something greater.
My culture and roots have always been at the heart of who I am, and they became the driving force behind taking that leap. Through these courses, I’ve begun shaping a foundation that will inspire all of my future creations. This journey is filled with bold flavors, vibrant spice, and, most importantly, a sense of community—sharing pieces of where I come from through every dish I create.
With every technique I refine and every flavor I explore, I continue to grow—pushing boundaries and shaping a culinary identity that is entirely my own.
